We look for stories and sources beyond the people who already have the easiest access to reporters. Lived experience counts. We avoid stereotypes and cheap labels.

This applies to original ToledoLedger reporting. Partner stories follow the originating newsroom’s standards. We still label those stories and will not strip context that identifies who is affected.
